Tint Shops in Connecticut Comply with Window Tinting Laws

A lot of people enjoy having tinted windows on their vehicles, for a variety of reasons. The most obvious reason is to reduce the glare of the sun during the daytime, and reduce the glare of oncoming headlights at night. But, there are laws in each state regarding just how dark vehicle windows can be. For instance, tinting can’t be so dark that it keeps others from being able to see inside the vehicle, such as police officers. The tinting must also not be so dark that it restricts the vision of the driver. If a driver is caught with tinting that is too dark, they can be fined, and will be forced to have the tinting removed from the vehicle windows.

Tint shops in Connecticut must comply with state laws about vehicle window tinting. For instance, all cars and trucks with tinted windows must have a compliance sticker that is issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles in the State of Connecticut. A vehicle can only have one of these stickers to be legal if the allowable amount of light is no less than 35 percent. There are also some exceptions to this rule, such as:

  • Rear Windows -; If the vehicle has left and right side-view mirrors, rear windows may have a tinting that is darker than the 35 percent level.
  • Large Vehicles -; Limousines, motor coaches, buses, and trucks are allowed to have dark tinted side windows, as long as they are located behind the driver. They may be darker than the 35 percent level.
  • Medical Purposes -; If someone has a medical condition that requires them to not be exposed to a lot of light, and they have the proper medical exemption form in order to be able to have tinting done at tint shops in Connecticut that is darker than the 35 percent level.

To be sure that a vehicle is going to be legal for the road, it is important to visit the right shop. Customers know they will get quality service, and always be within the legal percentage of tinting, when they bring their vehicles to Tint Master in Connecticut.
