Places to Visit in Miami

If you have ever been to a work conference out-of-town, you know that there is always some downtime worked into the schedule. Instead of simply hanging out in your hotel room or the bar, take advantage of what the city has to offer. Miami is a great place to sight see day or night. These are a few places you should visit when you aren’t busy in the meetings.

Zoo Miami

Enjoy seeing animals you might never encounter from other continents. For example, the Amazon and Beyond exhibit covers twenty-seven acres filled with wondrous animals like jaguars and howler monkeys. Keep an eye out for anaconda and crocodile in the Amazon Forest. Have you ever seen an Asian small-clawed otter? You can find them in the Asian River Life Exhibit. Take a Safari Tram Tour around Africa and/or Asia to have a relaxing and educational experience.

South Beach

No trip to Miami is complete without visiting SoBe. If you happen to be in Miami in December, make sure you check out Art Basel. This is a premier art exhibit that attracts numerous celebrities with galleries from across the globe bringing their best pieces of art. In the evening, hit up Joe’s Stone Crab for phenomenal, you guessed it, stone crab claws. Interested in a little shopping? Lincoln Road is a well-known shopping district you can window shop around; maybe stop for a bit of coffee.

Vizcaya Museum and Gardens

Built in the Coconut Grove area by James Deering between 1914 and 1922, Vizcaya was designed as an 18th-century Italian villa for his family to enjoy during the winter. Now you can take self-paced audio or guided tours throughout the house and gardens to delight in his vision of the country estates in Northern Italy. Visit the Library, Dining Room, and Music Room that surround the courtyard. Revel in the gorgeous view of Biscayne Bay to the East.

These are just a snippet of all the wonderful places you can visit when you are not in the meeting rooms in Miami. Take the opportunity to stop by a zoo that houses animals from around the globe. Dine at a highly rated restaurant while overlooking the beach. Imagine what it was like to live in a well-to-do area of Coconut Grove at the turn of the 20th century. Use your free time to your own advantage to include places you have never been before.
