Learn About the Nation’s Capital with DC Tours

It is a lot of fun to visit and explore a city you have never been to before. If you are traveling to the nation’s capital, you will want to take one of the many available Dc tours. The Thomas Jefferson Memorial also faces the Washington Monument but from the other side. Thomas Jefferson was the third American President. Other memorials include Vietnam, Iwo Jima, and World War II.

If you have children who grow bored visiting memorials, there are plenty of other fun tours. The National Zoological Park was founded in 1889 making it one of the oldest US zoos. It has about 4,000 animals from 500 different species. Entry is free since it is part of the Smithsonian Institution. Giant pandas have lived in the zoo since Ling Ling and Hsing Hsing arrived from China in 1972. These first two pandas generated a lot of publicity and had millions of visitors. The zoo may take several hours to go through, but it is one of the top area attractions.

The National Aquarium is the first public aquarium in the US, and it takes about 45 minutes for the tour. There are over 250 species that include the Giant Pacific Octopus, sharks, and piranha. Finally, you may wish to see a professional baseball or football game depending on the season. For this you have the Washington Nationals (baseball) and the Washington Redskins (football).
