In the majority of cases orthodontics are carried out on a young person once their jaw has fully developed, traditional metal braces are normally used and most youngsters learn to live with them for the couple of years that it takes to align their teeth. Adult orthodontics are also used for the same purpose, to align the teeth but in many cases an adult finds metal braces to be too intrusive in his or her work environment. Although metal braces can be used for an adult, there are other options available such as invisalign in Roseville area, ceramic braces and lingual braces. The costs vary somewhat but do depend a lot on where the patient lives.

Invisible braces, also known as Invisalign® are the newest types of braces available and are rapidly become very popular for all ages. This popularity has a lot to do with the fact that they are virtually unnoticeable; they are not aesthetically unpleasant as other types.

The most popular manufacturer of clear teeth aligners is Invisalign®. As the process progresses the patient wears an ever changing shape aligning device, it is these aligners that slowly change the position of the teeth. They are different that traditional braces inasmuch as they can be removed whenever the wearer wishes to eat, drink, brush or floss. As it is the aligner that is changed there are no wires to be adjusted as is the case with normal braces.

The most traditional type of braces are made from stainless steel. The orthodontist fixes brackets on the front of every tooth; wires are used to connect each bracket. Over a period of time; normally two or three years the teeth gradually change position as they are periodically adjusted by the orthodontist.

Ceramic braces are similar to stainless steel but they are not quite as visible. Those patients that are not interested in truly invisible braces will often opt for this solution. The only drawback to ceramics is the fact that they can be stained when one eats or drinks certain foods and beverages.

Another type of adult orthodontics is lingual braces. These are very similar to metal braces but they are placed on the back, rather than the front of the teeth. Although these are quite unobtrusive they do have a tendency to affect speech.

These options are slowly giving way to more aesthetically appealing solutions. None can be less obtrusive as the undetectable Invisalign in Roseville.
